Billing questions

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Creating an account is free and gives you one Genome to build, edit and pull from. A paid plan is only needed once you want modules, update sync, or more than one system.

What is a Genome?

Your design system, held as live machine-readable data instead of a document: tokens, components, modules and the links between them. Cursor, Claude, v0 and the rest read it over MCP and pull code straight from it, so what they generate matches what you already shipped.

How does annual billing work?

Annual plans are billed once per year and save roughly 20% against monthly. You can switch between monthly and annual any time from your billing portal.

Do I own everything Flash generates?

Completely. Every token, component spec, CSS file and export belongs to you - use it in client work, commercial products, or open-source projects. Your Genome is yours to take with you.

Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel any time?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. No lock-in.

What is a seat, and what is a Genome?

Pro and Team are priced per seat: one seat is one person who can edit a Genome and pull from it. Studio is priced per Genome instead, because agencies count clients rather than colleagues - bring in whoever a project needs without paying per head.

Do I need a plan to use the community gallery?

Browsing is free for everyone - every published system is fully visible, including its tokens, type and components. Taking one with you comes with any paid plan: forking it into your account, exporting it to Figma, and the machine-readable feeds (registry.json, tokens.json, tokens.dtcg.json, kit.md). Systems you publish yourself always stay yours to download.
