Questions and answers

What is Flash DSM?

Flash DSM is a design-system builder. Describe your product in plain language, paste a website URL, or connect Figma, and Flash DSM bootstraps a complete foundation - color, typography, spacing, radius, shadow, motion tokens, plus component specs - that you edit and export as CSS, Tailwind, Tokens Studio JSON, or a GitHub push.

How does website scanning work?

Paste any public URL and Flash DSM fetches the site's CSS, extracts tokens across every foundation (color, spacing, typography, radius, shadows), detects recurring component patterns, and assembles a structured design system from the live styles. It is the fastest way to document a design system that only exists in shipped code.

Can I connect my Figma files?

Yes. Flash DSM connects to Figma through OAuth and the Flash DSM Figma plugin. Pick a design file and Flash DSM imports its variables and styles as design tokens; you can also push a generated system back into Figma as variables.

What export formats does Flash DSM support?

Flash DSM exports CSS custom properties, SCSS, Tailwind config, Tokens Studio JSON, a full Figma plugin package, GitHub push, and Cursor rules with MCP - all on Pro and above, along with a runnable ZIP. Free plans can copy CSS, SCSS, Tailwind and JSON with a short attribution comment; paid plans export clean files and unlock the higher-tier destinations.

Is Flash DSM free?

Creating a Flash DSM account is free and includes one Genome you can build, edit and pull a limited set of components from, no card needed. Pro, Team and Studio add module pulls, update sync, shared Genomes and client handoff.

Do I own the design systems Flash DSM generates?

Yes. You own every token, component spec, CSS file and export Flash DSM produces, and you can use them in client work, commercial products and open-source projects. Free-plan CSS and Tailwind files include a short Flash attribution comment; paid plans export without it.
