# Help & Documentation > Get started with Flash DS: generating your first design system, editing tokens, exporting to code, connecting Figma and GitHub, and managing credits. - Source: https://flashdsm.com/help - Site: Flash DS (https://flashdsm.com) --- ## Overview Common questions about Flash DS. Can't find your answer? Reach out on Discord. ## Questions and answers ### What is Flash DS? Flash DS is an AI design system generator. Describe your product in plain language, paste a website URL, or connect Figma, and Flash DS returns a complete design system - foundations (color, typography, spacing, radius, shadow, motion), design tokens, component specs and patterns - in about a minute. ### How does website scanning work? Paste any public URL and Flash DS fetches the site's CSS, extracts tokens across every foundation (color, spacing, typography, radius, shadows), detects recurring component patterns, and assembles a structured design system from the live styles. It is the fastest way to document a design system that only exists in shipped code. ### Can I connect my Figma files? Yes. Flash DS connects to Figma through OAuth and the Flash DS Figma plugin. Pick a design file and Flash DS imports its variables and styles as design tokens; you can also push a generated system back into Figma as variables. ### What export formats does Flash DS support? Flash DS exports CSS custom properties, a Tailwind CSS configuration, Tokens Studio JSON, Figma variables, Cursor rules with an MCP configuration, and a ZIP containing all of them. Exports are plain text files you commit to your own repository. ### Is Flash DS free? Creating a Flash DS account is free and includes a one-time AI credit grant, so you can generate a design system without entering a card. Continuing beyond that grant requires a paid plan - Spark, Forge or Foundry - which adds a monthly credit allowance and higher limits. ### Do I own the design systems Flash DS generates? Yes. Every token, component spec, CSS file and export produced by Flash DS belongs to you, with no attribution requirement, and can be used in client work, commercial products and open-source projects. ### How do I get support for Flash DS? Join the Flash DS Discord for quick help, or open a GitHub Discussion for bug reports and feature requests. Forge and Foundry plans include priority support, and Foundry adds a dedicated Slack channel.
